The National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) will reportedly be bringing back the classic Mid-America Heavyweight Championship.

According to a report from Pwinsider, the company will be reviving the title at their ‘Back to the Territories’ TV taping on June 1st in Knoxville, Tennessee. It is said that several representatives from the company’s various “territory” promotions will compete to crown the new champion. They will then travel to other promotions to defend it.

Exodus Pro, NWA Chicago, NWA Southeast – Joe Cazana Promotions, FTW, NWA Kross Fire Wrestling and World League Wrestling are all listed as NWA’s current territories and all of them will be represented at the taping.

The original Mid-America Heavyweight Championship featured champions such as Randy Savage, Buddy Rogers, Harley Race, Buddy Landell, Bob Armstrong, Tommy Rich, Jerry Lawler, Jackie Fargo, Bobby Eaton, Jeff Jarrett, Tracy Smothers, and others.

In other news, MLW and CMLL will be teaming up to present ‘Lucha Apocalypto’. The event will take place on November 9th in Chicago, IL.
