NWA Champion Feels Tapings Could Resume In Early 2021

NWA

In a year full of wrestling milestones brought on by a unique global situation, the newly reformed NWA has probably suffered the most. The promotion had only just recently gotten on its feet when the world crumbled around it, and many of the stars it was building have now departed for greener pastures.

While the organization has teamed with AEW and UWN to try to keep some momentum going, things will only really take back off when there is another weekly program in place. According to recent words given by the promotion’s women’s champion Serena Deeb on The Hashtag Show, that could happen in the next couple of months.

Deeb, who won her NWA gold on AEW television, is all for the various crossovers that All Elite Wrestling has started on, and she hopes that New Japan gets in the mix when that makes sense. However, when it comes to Powerrr or a similar YouTube show, the champ is under the impression that tapings will begin again in “January or early next year.”

NWA is the only name in “televised” wrestling that hasn’t returned following the pandemic, and there’s no official word on a date for tapings or the state of crowds for those shows. For now, Deeb will continue to compete on AEW television, including a bout tonight against Diamante and Ivelisse.
