New Japan Pro Wrestling presented Road To Sakura Genesis on Monday. The show was notable for being the last night before the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship is revealed. The final night with the double gold belt was not a winning one for Kota Ibushi.
Trapped in a Crossface Chickenwing by Jeff Cobb, the self-proclaimed God was helpless as Will Ospreay dropped Tomoaki Honma with Stormbreaker. After the momentum-boosting win, Ospreay promised to not only win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship, but to “kill god.” His sentiments were echoed by United Empire’s Great-o-Khan backstage.
