NJPW President Harold Meij Denies Trying To Keep Kenny Omega Out Of Japan
NJPW President Harold Meij went on the New Japan Pro-Wrestling website to comment on the forthcoming Wrestle Kingdom 14, but before he talked anything about January 4 weekend, he addressed the rumors going around involving Kenny Omega not being let into Japan because of promotion’s hand. Meij was direct in shooting down the claims, saying that no company has the power to prevent a talent from getting into the country and that they wouldn’t do that in the first place, stating that Omega “made a huge contribution to New Japan and we wish him all the success in the world.” Meij’s quotes are translated and transcribed below (courtesy of The Super-J Cast Twitter):
“By the way, there’s this unbelievable rumour going around that NJPW tried to prevent Kenny Omega from entering Japan, there’s no way a company (meaning New Japan) could do that, no reason to do that or would even want to do that.
“I just thought I’d address it because I want to be clear about these things. It was a rumour spread by someone’s wild speculation. Kenny Omega made a huge contribution to New Japan and we wish him all the success in the world.”

Before his match with Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear, Omega went on Twitter last week to give some interesting comments regarding his “wild” 2019 stating that the stories he has are “actually way worse than what’s been rumored and/or reported.” This was after Dave Meltzer had a report regarding Omega’s issues of getting into Japan for his November 3 show with DDT Pro.
