NJPW News – Mercedes Mone Confirms Injury, NJPW Strong, Willow Nightingale

Mercedes Mone competed in the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Championship tournament at NJPW Resurgence on Sunday night. Unfortunately, Mone suffered an injury when she fell from the top rope during her match.

Pwinsider is reporting that according to backstage belief, Mone suffered a broken ankle which usually takes a minimum of six to eight weeks to heal. Mone’s fellow cast members from The Mandalorian, Katee Sackhoff and Emily Swallow, were at NJPW Resurgence to support her.

Taking to Twitter, Mone confirmed that she did indeed get injured at Resurgence last night. She posted a video of herself in the hospital and wrote,

WRESTLING!!!! Phew, not how I dreamed for tonight to go. I’m so sorry and I love you guys so much. I’m gonna heal and be back better than ever.

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that the STRONG brand will debut in Japan with shows at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo. The events are scheduled for July 4th and 5th, titled ‘Independence Day.’

Willow Nightingale defeated Mercedes Mone to become the inaugural Strong Women’s Champion at NJPW Resurgence last night.

Nightingale took to Twitter to address her victory and also paid respect to Mone.
