Nikki Garcia and Artem Chigvintsev officially severed their matrimonial ties recently. Chigvintsev was arrested in September on charges of severe domestic battery. Despite this, Artem’s lawyer maintained that he had no guilt in the incident of domestic assault.

In a new episode of “Nikki and Brie Show”, Nikki opened up about the breakdown of her marriage, expressing her focus on the wellbeing of her son. Here are some notable excerpts from the podcast:

On taking a respite: “I had to sever the connections as, above all, I’m a mother and the safety and privacy of my son are paramount. I would do anything for it. And then, required solitude for recuperation and coping with the trauma. It has been really challenging. I’ve been downhearted and mournful.”

On Chigvintsev’s lawyer disputing his role in the assault: “When you are cognizant of the truth, the rest ceases to matter. Some of you would bring to my notice what people were alleging or what was being circulated, which did influence me a bit. However, as I am aware of the truth and have lived it, it didn’t impact me profoundly as people weren’t there that day. People are clueless about what I’ve experienced and what I am still in the midst of. There will always be people who form assumptions and make pronouncements. When they are fed misinformation, people tend to believe things.”

On her take on the collapse of their marriage: “Looking back at our relationship, it’s melancholic, but our rapport hasn’t been good in ages. I painted a rosy picture that things were far better than they truly were in the public vision. I regret this now as I felt that if I could elevate this person onto a pedestal and if they heard my faith in them often enough, they could start believing in themselves too. Given that we were in the public glare and feeling unacknowledged at home, I could possibly get my pleas heard in public. Unfortunately, we weren’t enhancing each other’s best traits. We should have probably parted ways far sooner so that what eventually happened could have been averted.”
