Nick Wayne could one day hold the AEW TNT Championship, but only if Christian Cage loses the title to somebody else first.
Cage captured the title during the September 23, 2023 episode of AEW Collision but had been calling himself the TNT Champion for weeks before his win.
Speaking on a recent edition of the “ROAR Around The Ring” podcast, Wayne was asked about his championship aspirations and explained the circumstances in which he’d challenge for the TNT title. He said,
“It piques everyone’s interest at the world title, cause that’s obviously number one and everybody wants to be number one. So that’s obviously a big goal for the future, but I feel like maybe a more realistic one — I don’t want to take it out of the hands of Christian Cage, but if it were to fall out of his hands, I’d be happy to retrieve it back. I want to keep it on his shoulder but if he were to lose it, I’d bring it back.”
Cage, Wayne, and Luchasaurus will face Sting, Darby Allin, and Adam Copeland tomorrow night at AEW Full Gear 2023.
