At the Slammiversary 2024 Pay-Per-View event, Nic Nemeth ascended to the distinguished status of TNA World Heavyweight Championship. Shortly afterwards, through a “Digital Exclusive,” he reminisced on his hard-earned victory. His words had the intensity and depth you would expect from a dedicated 20 year veteran of the sport:
“You know, twenty years almost to the exact day have passed, and I’ve got this feeling that this wasn’t just a coincidence. People have a lot on their plates, some are facing uphill battles, while others seem to be on easy street. Then, boom! Out of nowhere, some people find themselves at the peak. It’s taken twenty grueling years, but I made my way back to TNA. It’s almost miraculous, I told them, ‘Hey, I’ve still got it. I can still compete, there’s still fuel left in me. I’m the best, I’ll prove it. If I can’t, then I’ll leave the ring and hang up my boots. TNA reignited my passion, it’s probably evident if you look into my eyes. I absolutely adore this business, this world I’m in. Damn, it feels amazing to be at my prime after two decades.’”
Nemeth further expanded, “I had one ambition when I arrived at TNA – to become the champion. I pushed my limits as I’d been on television before, but I had to earn it, to prove it. This evening, against five equally tough and talented competitors in the ring, I somehow emerged victorious. Any other night, and the outcome could’ve been different. Today was my day. You know why? Because after spending twenty years grinding and hustling like everyone else, sometimes, the timing is just right. Sometimes, the timing is the best thing that can happen to you, and occasionally that timing can be great for the company. TNA is continuing its surge to the top. Just take a look in my eyes and if you don’t think this is the most prestigious championship in this sport, then you’re simply mistaken. If you don’t believe in my words, challenge me. I’ll be there. They didn’t call me ‘The Wanted Man.’ I am because I want to be the best in this business.”
