In a recent episode of the “MuscleManMalcolm” podcast, wrestler Nic Nemeth shared his thoughts on why JBL, former WWE Champion, has been present during his recent matches. However, he argued that JBL has some agenda brewing.
JBL has been seen during Nemeth’s bouts in both AAA and TNA, and played a role in helping him keep his World title in the Anthem-owned wrestling association.
Nemeth confessed on the podcast, “I don’t truly know. He’s whispered something to me on two different occasions in Mexico and in TNA, and it was a little vague. Also, I’d rather not repeat it because I believe it was whispered to me in confidence. I don’t know where he stands. He did help out clean some trash out of the ring at one point for us. I hope nothing else unseemly happens from him because I feel like he has a plan, and he’s assembling that plan piece by piece over the last few months. But I will not worry about him at this moment. I even told Joe Hendry, ‘I wouldn’t worry about him. Worry about the wrestler who’s a lot better than you that you’re facing for the world title,’ because I’m not just going to hand that thing over. I want him to earn it, but I don’t ever want to lose this title. Ever.”
In a different podcast, the “Eyes Up Here”, wrestler RJ City shared that he was the one who brought Ben Mankiewicz from Turner Classic Movies on board to AEW to assist with the development of Toni Storm’s “Timeless” character.
City claimed, “I think there is a lot out there that is more simpler than it is. The real story is a lot more complex. I always throw out ideas when it comes to capturing cinema, that kind of thing. ‘What about this old movie? What about that old movie?’ I guess, in a sense, I am a cinema consultant. In a sense. I’m helping the crew capture the essence of Toni Storm. In the beginning, I was in a couple of her films, I introduced a few of them. I will take credit, despite what Tony Khan wants to say, I will take credit for getting Ben Mankiewicz involved. That was me because I said, ‘Hello, I’m not Ben Mankiewicz’ on Dynamite. That turned into us being able to work with him, which was the highlight of my life.”
