In a recent episode of “Sports Guys Talking Wrestling,” TNA World Champion Nic Nemeth talked about his journey to validate his skills outside WWE.
Nemeth departed WWE in September 2023 after his contract ended.
Insights from the interview follow:
Nic Nemeth spoke about his aspirations on wrestling in non-WWE platforms: “I craved for everyone to acknowledge that my skills were as commendable as I proclaimed… I had the potential to clinch titles, and a wrestling company could count on me. I believe that WWE was aware of my capabilities, but they never realized it in terms of action. Therefore, it felt right to assert that ‘I owe it to myself. I believe in myself. I think I’m capable of being a dominant performer, a world champion, until the age of 50.'”
Reflecting on his WWE tenure, he said: “In my nearly two decades in WWE, there were only a handful of TV events that I couldn’t attend, and it wasn’t all praises and ‘good job, champ. You’re on a winning streak’ for me there. My journey was about emerging victorious from challenges, often not getting opportunities to express myself, and frequently losing to wrestlers whom I outperformed.”
Earlier this month, Nemeth successfully defended his TNA World Title against Moose at TNA Victory Road 2024. Moreover, he is poised to lock horns with Matt Cardona in a Pick Your Poison Match in the forthcoming TNA Impact TV tapings this weekend.
