In a recent installment of the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, the reigning TNA Wrestling World Champion Nic Nemeth, also known as Dolph Ziggler, expressed his dissatisfaction regarding the frequent last-minute alterations in scripts commonly seen during the Vince McMahon epoch in WWE.
Here are some notable insights from Nemeth’s conversation in the podcast:
Regarding the experience of dealing with abrupt script modifications in WWE, he recalled, “Various members [of the crew] would question, ‘What is the plan for tonight?’ and the answer would be, ‘I’ve heard that the entire show was torn in half at 5:45.'”
Speaking about the complexity of shooting promos remotely and posting them on Matt Cardona’s YouTube channel, Nemeth disclosed:“At times, we couldn’t attend ‘Raw’, so instead we produced a video and uploaded it on Cardona’s YouTube. I applied my selling techniques to create the perception of a substantially higher stake in the match.”
Providing guidance on coping with such challenges, Nemeth advised,“In circumstances where storytelling is not a viable option, I would recommend focusing on the match’s selling aspect to amplify its significance and setup potential for future opportunities.”
