The wrestling world was rocked to its core when Brodie Lee, formerly known as Luke Harper, passed away at the age of 41 on Saturday, December 26th, 2020. Lee, who was competing for AEW at the time of his passing, was fondly remembered by all in the wrestling industry for his years inside the squared circle and the bond formed with his fellow wrestlers outside of it.
In the time since his passing, many tributes have poured in through social media and some subtle tributes were paid during last night’s episode of Monday Night RAW. after the show, Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston appeared on RAW Talk and took some time to remember their former in-ring opponent but more importantly, their friend and the man he was outside of the ring.
“We’re talking about Brodie Lee, Luke Harper, Gator, Jon Huber. That’s our friend,” Xavier began. “Ladies and gentlemen, if you never got the pleasure of meeting him, he was a fantastic human who did so much for this industry. The lives that he touched and the way that he made people feel, whether you were a wrestler, whether you worked on the crew, whether you were in catering, whether you were a fan, he is someone who isn’t just extremely important to me, but extremely important to everyone in this company, and we just — we’re going to miss him a lot. We love you and we wish we could see you again.”

Kofi Kingston, who is also a father of two boys, reminisced on the relationship they had because of their shared bond of fatherhood and the relationship that their kids share as well.
“You’re seeing all the posts online on social media. He was an amazing father. It was one of the most admirable traits about him. We had so many stories back and forth about our kids because they’re kind of cut from the same cloth. We got, you know, a couple of wild boys, you know, so every WrestleMania, they would always get together. They called themselves The New Day Kids, you know, and they just it was just an amazing feeling to share that bond with him and you know, like you said we’ve been seeing all the post on social media and you just see how many lives he touched in the business in the ring, but more importantly outside the ring with all the family stuff. Yeah, like Woods said, he’s going to be dearly missed. His presence is going to be missed. Yeah, it’s crazy. It’s crazy.”
WrestleZone would once again like to extend its condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Brodie Lee. Should you use any portion of the quotes above, transcription credit should go to Robert DeFelice for WrestleZone.
