Jon Moxley is crowned as the new AEW World Champion.

The final match of AEW WrestleDream 2024 saw Bryan Danielson and Jon “Mox” Moxley battle it out. The deciding moment arrived when Moxley dropped Danielson with a Gotch-style piledriver, followed by a sleeper hold.

After the match, Marina Shafir gave Moxley a plastic bag, similar to the events at All Out 2024. Just when Darby Allin and Wheeler Yuta appeared to provide support, Wheeler shocked everyone by betraying Allin and suffocating him using the bag.

Several other personalities such as Private Party and Jeff Jarrett rushed in to help. By the time the show ended, Danielson was being stretchered off and escorted out of the arena.

With a 50-day record, Danielson’s AEW World Title comes to a halt. Meanwhile, Moxley sets a new record as the first ever four-time World Champion in AEW history.

Multiple tweets from the official All Elite Wrestling page documented the events. One tweet showed Moxley promising Danielson a warrior’s end, other tweets provided updates from the intensive match with photos capturing the action. The most notable one marked the beginning of Moxley’s 4th reign as the AEW World Champion while announcing the end of Danielson’s reign and career.

Finally, a tweet acknowledging the brutal post-match attack on Danielson stated that the graphic nature of the incident meant it would not be shared.
