MVP To Kofi Kingston: ‘You Don’t Have What It Takes To Be The WWE Champion Anymore’

MVP continues to focus on Kofi Kingston. In recent weeks, Bobby Lashley’s manager has reminded Kingston of his relative fall from grace following the end of his WWE Championship reign. Whereas MVP has hinted that Kingston could reach those heights again with his help, the former champion has rejected the mastermind behind the Hurt Business.

In a recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump, MVP doubled down on his belief that Kingston has become part of the comedic relief on WWE RAW, and he argued that the New Day star would be better off with his help.

“He climbed the virtually unclimbable mountain, rose to the top and won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania,” said MVP. “What has he done since then? Every circus has clowns. When you want the comedic relief, you call in New Day. And they’ll come in and they’ll sing and dance, and they’ll entertain you. They’ll give you that ha-ha. Great. How long was Kofi Kingston WWE Champion? How long did his reign last? And when he stepped in the ring with Brock Lesnar, how long was that match?”

“I guarantee you, if Kofi Kingston had someone like me in his ear, his career would have been way different. And I guarantee you, he wouldn’t be comedy relief in a clown show.”

MVP then took the matter to another level with his claim that Kingston doesn’t have what it takes to be the WWE Champion anymore.

“At the end of the day, I mean, what do you place more value on?” said MVP. “Being the WWE Champion, at the absolute top of the mountain, the apex? Or at this point in his career, is he just now, as I said, perfectly content to hanging out with Woods, and dressing up in video game costumes and doing all that nerdy stuff that they like to do?

“It’s all great, it’s fun and games. But for you to go from here, the top of the mountain to just being content with your family and your friends and just hanging out and making people laugh, I think it says a lot about your character. And just that you don’t have what it takes to be the WWE Champion anymore.”

Aware of Kingston’s stance that he doesn’t need the world title because he’s already held it, MVP fired back by calling the former champion a liar and saying that Kingston would be the champion if he had what it takes.

“And he’ll try to pass it off and say, ‘Hey, I don’t need that, I’ve done it, I don’t need…. You’re a liar, Kofi Kingston,” said MVP. “If you could be the WWE Champion, you would be. I just don’t think you’ve got what it takes anymore. And that’s why you’re content to hang out with Woods and play video games and whatever it is you do. Because you don’t compete seriously anymore.”
