There were reports that MJF had been absent from AEW post the Worlds End 2023 event due to a shoulder injury he was reportedly struggling with.
Recent appearances on the “SI Media” podcast show MJF stating that his shoulder issue had magically disappeared, though, he did not mention whether the issue was resolved via surgery.
MJF articulated by saying, “I did have to step aside due to a shoulder injury. However, whether or not I required surgery for it is another matter entirely. You see, divulging details about medical conditions is a breach of HIPPA regulations, so you’re really not supposed to ask me such questions. Now, as you can see, I’m in peak physical condition. I am, without a doubt, the most fit professional wrestler in our league. And that’s not a particularly difficult feat. I could easily list myself among the top five most fit professional wrestlers out there. You, on the other hand, might not be the brightest bulb. My shoulder is no longer an issue. It feels fantastic now.”
MJF marked his return to AEW during the May Double Or Nothing event in 2024.
During another podcast appearance on the “Instinct Culture” show, MVP lauded Tony Khan for allowing The Hurt Syndicate to bring their storyline to a conclusion in AEW as they were exiting from WWE.
MVP expressed, “We’ve accomplished everything we had set out to. Our goal was to switch teams, have fun, and work with fresh talent. We’re aware that we’re at the twilight of our careers. Our end goal is to groom new talent while we promise. There is plenty we have in store. We plan on reigning over the tag titles for some more time. Post that, we’re focused on attaining single championships for Shelton and Bobby, and thereafter, we plan on ushering in new stars before sailing off into the sunset.”
Shelton Benjamin added, “My time here has been incredibly refreshing. With free reigns to be myself and the privilege to work alongside my best friends, AEW has been a terrific experience. They have extended an opportunity for us to demonstrate what the other leagues were missing. I’m just relishing the opportunity to help create new stars and kick some butt in the process.”
MVP concluded, “Sincerely, a huge shout-out to Tony Khan for letting us create and conclude our story. It’s common knowledge that we were abruptly written out without any explanations. Now we get to retire in our own terms at a place where we’re celebrated, where we add value, and get to mentor young talent on our way out. Tony Khan was gracious enough to see our potential and let us choose how we want to wrap our story. We’re incredibly grateful for that.”
Currently, The Hurt Syndicate holds the AEW World Tag Team Championships.
