During his recent visit to the “F Y’all Podcast,” MVP, the WWE superstar, shared an incident from the early days of his career when he refused to accept a promo given to him by WWE. In this incident, the famous Dusty Rhodes supported him.
MVP revealed his experience with the promo script, remarking that it was terrible. This led to a memorable conversation between him and Dusty Rhodes.
MVP recalled the moment, stating, “I remember when I first started. We were having a press conference where MVP was about to sign his contract. I was handed my script and when I read the lines, the actual phrase in the script was, ‘Check out these fine threads I be wearing.’ I took the script to Dusty and showed it to him, asking, ‘What the fck is this?’ Dusty had a look at it and reacted, ‘Damn, baby. That’s awful. I don’t know who drafted this sit, but you go ahead and do your thing.’”
He didn’t stop there but added, “I went ahead and asked, ‘Who penned this s*it?’ It turned out to be someone from Connecticut who wasn’t even present there. Early on, I understood that ‘they’ couldn’t script for me. You can provide your instructions, give me a gist, and then let me do my thing on the stage. Please, don’t ever hand me something like that again.”
