In a recent episode of the “Insight” podcast, professional wrestler Mustafa Ali had a meaningful conversation about the notorious RETRIBUTION storyline and the downfall of this trending faction.
He expressed his thoughts, “Did I know it was going to fail? I realized we had a big task ahead. I know the names weren’t well-received, the masks weren’t appealing, and it was more frustrating because there was so much talent hidden beneath these things.”
Ali further elaborated, “I had endeavored to salvage Retribution and initially Vince agreed, but it never saw the light of day. Retribution faltered because there was no concrete reasoning behind it, Vince lost interest and it’s not my story to narrate. An internal power struggle ensued between people and sadly Retribution was side-affected.”
In the same podcast, Chris Jericho, another professional wrestler, brought up Dave Bautista (Batista) in conversation, recognizing him as his top choice amongst wrestlers who have successfully made the jump to Hollywood.
While reflecting on the best wrestler-turned-actor on the “Maggie & Perloff Show,” Jericho confessed, “In the present scenario, a good number of guys have their hands full with some pretty sizeable film and movie projects such as Dwayne Johnson and John Cena. However, I think Dave Bautista has demonstrated his skill through a varied and diverse selection of roles. I would definitely vouch for Dave as my top pick amongst all.”
Bautista has truly shined in 2024, with impressive appearances in films like “Dune: Part Two, My Spy: The Eternal City, The Killer’s Game, and The Last Showgirl.” Both “Dune” and “The Last Showgirl” are creating a stir in the awards season; “Dune” is hinted as a potential Best Picture nominee, while “The Last Showgirl” has landed a Best Actress in a Drama Motion Picture nomination for its leading lady, Pamela Anderson.
