Mr. Iguana On Whether Alberto El Patron Will Return To WWE

Since taking over AAA, WWE has deliberately chosen not to mention Alberto El Patron, this was further underlined by El Hijo del Vikingo’s victory of the AAA Mega Title.

In a fresh episode of the “WrestleBinge” podcast, a conversation revolved around the potential of El Patron’s return to WWE, considering his somewhat controversial past. The issue was addressed by Mr. Iguana, who said,

“The trajectory of Alberto is interesting, you can feel the audience’s intensity rising for him as he plays the villain. But then the unpredictable nature of Lucha Libre kicks in and suddenly, he’s cheered on and becomes the hero — a significant hero.

“That’s the unpredictable charm of Lucha, you can never predict the audience because they are the ones dictating the show, tailoring what they want to see. So, as quickly as they can love a wrestler, they can lose interest just as fast, and so maybe one day, they notice me, like me for the first time, and they cheer.”

El Patron was an integral player in WWE’s main roster during two different periods from 2010 to 2016. He parted ways with the company in 2014 over a backstage incident.

Mr. Iguana, on the other hand, has garnered a substantial fan base during the WWE-AAA era, and WWE appears keen to increase his TV presence.

It is believed, however, that Mr. Iguana has ruffled some feathers backstage after suggesting WWE wanted him to bypass NXT and transition him to the main roster immediately.
