Welcome back to another Monday Morning Q&A where I toss out some questions to get a feel of how you guys and gals are feeling about certain topics.
So here are 5 questions I’d like to toss out for this week. I’ll give my answers, too, but the key here is that I want to know what YOU think! So make sure you chime in!
As I said before, I don’t think either MITB winner will be successful in their cash-in no matter who won. I had thought Logan Paul was the frontrunner, but going with Damian Priest gives me a little more hope maybe there is at least some sort of a game plan.
Of course, my instinct says Priest fails a cash-in due to some kind of miscommunication with Finn Balor, leading to a feud between the two and Priest’s exit from Judgment Day. Maybe that might even happen as quickly as Raw, in order to set up a Triple Threat match for SummerSlam (Seth Rollins vs. Finn Balor vs. Damian Priest, who will be mad that his MITB option is already done).
That would be my current prediction, but as soon as Raw’s lineup comes out, it might make me think otherwise.
Likewise with Priest, I think we’ll see Iyo Sky’s cash-in get ruined by Bayley to facilitate (or accentuate) the split of Damage CTRL.
There’s a chance, though, that she cashes in on whoever leaves the Triple Threat at SummerSlam as champion, since I’m assuming we’ll see Asuka vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair happen there. That should be enough of a battle that the winner will be out of sorts and prime for a cash-in.
Then again, I could see them going with more of a slow build for Iyo. Maybe they want to pull the trigger at a time where she can legitimately win the title and have a run.
I have more faith Iyo will win a belt with her cash-in than I do with Priest, I’ll say that.
I never thought the vibe of Raw Underground was all that interesting. It seemed like it was just the typical backstage brawls, but with people pretending to be excited around them. When it ultimately failed quickly, it wasn’t a surprise for me.
With that being said, though, I think having a no-ropes fight type match is indeed interesting. It’s nowhere near a gimmick I would go to on a regular basis, but if you don’t want to go the Fight Pit route, maybe that’s a worthwhile alternative just to spice things up.
This match between Kemp and Thorpe is really going influence my opinion. If those guys pull it off, I’ll be more willing to pitch the gimmick for future feuds. But if they fail? I’ll likely write it off that it shouldn’t come back.
I wholly think WWE did that John Cena segment just to try to undercut any criticism from the pro-AEW, anti-WWE crowd that feels like they need to pick sides. Some fans inevitably would be saying “AEW has this big show here with All In. Why can’t WWE do that? Money in the Bank is chump change in comparison.” By doing this, they at least tease Mania is coming, so some of those will then change their tune to “…but maybe we’ll get WrestleMania. They DID say they want to do it…”
It comes off to me like an empty promise, but a dishonest platitute that will work as a business strategy. WWE never said they WILL host it there. They just teased that they could potentially. It’s more so “wouldn’t it be nice” in a pipe dream way, rather than “won’t it be nice when we do this thing?”
In a few months, when the All In hype has died down, WWE will likely hope fans will forget about it. But in the meantime, they can use that to pitch to the UK how they should pay for those rabid fans and try to drive up the price for negotiating pay-per-views.
When will WrestleMania come to London? I think at the earliest, WrestleMania 42. Realistically? Maybe never.
Jey Uso challenges Roman Reigns for the title at SummerSlam. Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa get involved, maybe even with them being banned for ringside and they just come out after the inevitable ref bump anyway.
Roman retains, of course. Jey isn’t winning that belt. And either that’s what sends Solo Sikoa into joining The Usos and splitting off from them, or, what I fear is the most likely outcome, Reigns will simply get them all back on his side by beating Jey and proving he’s the deserving leader, so they’ll fall back in line.
Then, I think we’ll enter the stretch of a few people like Bobby Lashley and AJ Styles having short feuds with Roman Reigns for the remaining months heading up to the build to WrestleMania.
