MLW’s Chief Medical Physician On Returning To Live Events: ‘Our Approach Has Been To Be As Careful As Possible

MLW’s chief medical physician Dr. Sweglar recently spoke with MLW.com and discussed the timeline of the company’s potential return. opened up about the possibility of returning to events. Sweglar noted how other sports have returned and made it clear that safety remains MLW’s priority. “’We’ve seen some sports league find success while some have struggled this summer with their restarts,'” said Sweglar via MLW.com. “’Our approach has been to be as careful as possible in evaluating the league’s timeline to a return to competition.’”
Sweglar also offered some general insight about a vaccine for COVID-19, which could strongly accelerate the return of sports as we knew them. “’There is great possibility the vaccine won’t be 98% effective and could perhaps be as low as 50% effective, which would be the floor for FDA approval,'” said Sweglar via MLW.com. “‘There’s also an outside possibility efficacy alludes us for some time.’”
Finally, Sweglar offered his hope for controlling the virus. “’There is a possibility the virus may never be eliminated,'” said Sweglar via MLW.com. “‘But we can bring the virus to low levels, which would end the pandemic and allow this to be more controlled.'”
