MLW World Champ Hammerstone Credits John Cena For Getting Him Back Into Wrestling

Alexander Hammerstone would likely not be the ruling MLW World Heavyweight Champion had it not been for the exercise videos of John Cena.

Hammerstone remains in his very first reign as MLW World Heavyweight Champion and won the title at MLW Fightland in October 2021.

On the Squared Circle Pit podcast, Hammerstone discussed enjoying professional wrestling throughout the Attitude Era. He stated,

” I began viewing ‘‘ Sunday Night Heat’ or ‘‘ Shotgun Saturday Night’ or whatever was on late on public tv due to the fact that we didn’t have cable television.”

He went on to discuss that he fell away from wrestling since he’s constantly searching for something brand-new, stating,

” I constantly like to keep fresh, brand-new things entering into the old noggin.”

After finishing high school in 2008, Hammerstone returned into wrestling when he saw videos of John Cena, as he described,

” I enjoyed weight-lifting and John Cena videos and I began seeing him… … I kinda got ta thank great ol’ John for getting me back into wrestling.”

In addition to his 528+ day reign as MLW World Heavyweight Champion, Hammerstone was likewise the longest-reigning and inaugural MLW National Openweight Champion.
