Major League Wrestling (MLW) has declared that an Opera Cup Match will feature in the ‘MLW Blood & Thunder’ 2024. The sporting spectacle is scheduled to be held on Friday, July 12, at Tampa-St. Petersburg’s famed Coliseum, FL.

A sensational match awaits as Atlantis Jr. will face off against Okumura in the round 1 of the Opera Cup at MLW Blood & Thunder’24. This highly anticipated event will be held at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg, FL, on Friday, July 12.

The Opera Cup is all set to see two distinguished luchadores from CMLL.
After debuting last month with a dominant win against Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis Jr. is ready to seal his growing reputation in the tournament. With his momentum building up, he views the Opera Cup as an opportunity to establish his position as an emerging wrestling power.
Opposite him is Okumura, who is celebrating his 30th year in professional wrestling, maintaining an impressive 2024 record including a victorious reign as one of the MLW World Tag Team Champions along with partner Satoshi Kojima. To further endorse his legacy, he needs to triumph over Atlantis Jr. and progress in the Opera Cup. In order to do that, he will rely on his unique lucha and strong style concoction, which might prove to be a hard challenge for Atlantis Jr.
The illustrious Opera Cup holds a long history dating back to the late 1800s and being held in opera houses nationwide. The tournament that once saw legends like George Hackenschmidt, William Muldoon, and Stu Hart as victors was reintroduced by MLW in 2019 after a hiatus of 70 years. This has now become a platform for showcasing the best in wrestling.
This year’s 16-player tournament will also highlight participants from New Japan Pro Wrestling and CMLL, adding an international dimension and excitement for the fans.
