In a recent episode of the “SI Media” podcast, Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF), the ex-champion of AEW World, candidly spoke about his ongoing battle with Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
Here are the key takeaways from MJF’s dialogue:
On the unique factor that makes him concentrate after making his entrance: “My ADHD is extremely severe, and the only instance when I am able to concentrate on a singular activity, without grossly exaggerating, is the moment I drape that scarf around my neck and set off to perform. The remainder of my day is riddled with struggles. My reading comprehension is still something I wrestle with. There are moments when I am conversing with my girlfriend and suddenly, I drift away. I am fully aware and so is she, it’s like, ah darn, and she has to prompt me, reminding me of my previous statement.”
On how his ADHD aids him in remaining in the moment: “The intensity of the moment helps me stay rooted, probably one of the reasons why I manage to shine. I observe my colleagues in the industry, and it is pretty apparent who is in the ‘now’ and who is not. There is an undeniable aura, and those who don’t have it, come across as deer caught in the headlights, looking absolutely petrified.”
The podcast also includes a video where MJF shares his thoughts on AEW Contract and the possibility of Happy Gilmore 2.
