During Sunday night’s AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door II pay-per-view event, MJF successfully defended the AEW World Championship against Hiroshi Tanahashi in the opening match of the show.
Tanahashi had MJF for a five-count, but the distracted referee was busy handing the AEW World Title to a stagehand. MJF later pushed Tanahashi into the referee and clocked the NJPW veteran with the Dynamite Diamond Ring to retain his title.
