In a recent conversation featured on “WrestleTalk,” MJF, the current American Champion of AEW, talked about his admiration for John Cena during his early career.

Cena’s retirement journey commences in January 2025 with a farewell tour. He is set to perform on 36 occasions before he officially retires in December of that same year.

Here are a few noteworthy moments from the interview:

On his perspective regarding Cena, MJF remarked, “John Cena had a prominent place on my bedroom wall during his rapping phase. However, he eventually dropped the rapping and developed a more agreeable persona, which I didn’t particularly prefer… It’s not like me to stand up for, firstly, my dear friend John. You may or may not be aware, but he constantly praises me during interviews, as he should, considering I’m a unique talent of my generation. Such talents can identify other talents of the same calibre.”

When asked about Cena defending himself against Wade Barrett’s attacks, MJF said, “Wade relentlessly attacked him with several of his allies, which is typical behaviour in your field. Instead of engaging in a fair one-on-one fight, your friends would often intervene, mostly under the influence of alcohol. So, in my view, John was just protecting himself and his nation in that situation.”
