MJF, an established figure in All Elite Wrestling (AEW), has recently pronounced that it’s perfectly acceptable for him not to hold affection for all his AEW colleagues. This revelation surfaced following a disagreement with his co-worker, Britt Baker.
In the incident that sparked controversy, it is alleged that MJF challenged Baker over a sequence of remarks she made, which allegedly included her referring to MJF’s girlfriend Alicia Atout, in derogatory terms.
In conversation with the media outlet, Cultaholic, MJF shared his perspective on the event involving Baker, which led to her temporary suspension. His words were,
“Consider this perception-test, in which I burst into a woman’s dressing room, holler at a slender woman weighing just 110-lb, and subsequently threaten her physically by hammering a wall near her…Yet still, I manage to avoid being suspended. Does that make sense to you?”
“Let’s be clear, wrestling is an intensely competitive sport. It brews a unique strain of insecurity. Notwithstanding, I am capable of applauding any talent, irrespective of my personal feelings towards them. Off the top of my head, I can confidently predict that the Britt Baker vs. Mercedes Moné match happening at Wembley on August 25th will be a spectacle everyone should eagerly anticipate. I don’t have to be friends with all my colleagues, which is absolutely fine. However, the rumors surrounding this incident have indeed been astonishing.”
As per the reports, MJF was spared suspension, as AEW’s inquiry into the event concluded that he was merely standing up for his girlfriend against Baker’s comments.
This incident is the latest in a series of behind-the-scenes dramas experienced by the AEW, which also had experienced the infamous ‘Brawl Out’ in 2022 and a backstage altercation between Jack Perry and CM Punk last year.
Baker’s hiatus from appearing on AEW shows was rationalized as a storyline suspension by wrestling duo, The Young Bucks, at the request of TBS Champion Mercedes Mone.
Mone and Baker were involved in a pre-planned tug-of-war at the San Diego Comic-Con. The duo is scheduled to compete at the AEW All In: London event later this month.
