Miro, the previous holder of the AEW TNT Champion title, has reportedly decided to part ways with the company four years into his tenure, as reports emerged this week.
According to sources, such as Fightful Select, Miro is preparing to leave AEW, following his debut in September 2020 where he was presented as Kip Sabian’s ‘Best Man’.
An original agreement was in place for Miro’s AEW term to conclude in Spring 2022, but a four-year extension was later signed, theoretically extending his time with the company until Spring 2026.
However, Miro’s AEW career has not been smooth sailing. Despite being “healthy for quite some time,” he hasn’t been tapped for any wrestling matches by AEW in 2024. Between December 2021 and today, he has only stepped into the ring eleven times for the company.
Some discussion had occurred about possibly integrating Miro into the All In: London Casino Gauntlet Match and Miro made a personal request to work with Jon Moxley earlier in the year.
Miro, as a member of the AEW roster, reportedly receives a seven-figure salary. He had a stellar wrestling career as Rusev before his time with AEW, claiming the United States Champion title thrice.
Miro and his wife CJ Perry, known as Lana during her WWE weeks, decided to go their separate ways this year. Perry bid adieu to AEW in July after joining the promotion in 2023.
