During his match for the Tenryu Project earlier today, Minoru Suzuki collapsed.

He was teamed with YASSHI and Kengo, versus Tomohiro Ishii, Don Fuji, and Yuji Hino for the WAR Six-Man Tag Team Championship match.

When Suzuki did not answer the referee’s starting calls, the match was suspended. As reported on the Tenryu Project’s webpage, the match was nixed based on the referee and Tenryu Project’s decision.

Subsequent to these events, the NJPW icon was taken to a medical facility for diagnosis. He was identified to have a concussion, but no instances of hemorrhage were found in his head or elsewhere. The doctors declared him fit to go home, and no other significant symptoms were observed. He was in a condition to walk and communicate effectively.

Through his official Twitter account, Suzuki shed some light on his condition. He stated:

“Just reporting for now. I underwent a CT scan and some other examinations, but nothing unusual was found. The doctors practically pushed me out of the hospital, saying ‘If you’re feeling good, go home!’ I haven’t lost my memory. I even remember how I fell in the end. So, there’s no reason to worry. On a concluding note… ‘If I see you again, I promise to thrash you all!'”

Despite being 56 years old, Minoru Suzuki maintains an active wrestling career. Below is the official statement made by Shimada Ayana, representative of Tenryu Project:

“We deeply appreciate your attendance today.
An unfortunate incident involving Minoru Suzuki occurred during our main event today leading to the match’s cancellation based on the referee and Tenryu Project’s discretion.

Minoru Suzuki was sent to an emergency medical facility fortuitously. He was diagnosed with concussion, with no signs of bleeding anywhere in the head or body. The doctors have cleared him and he is enroute his home.

He doesn’t show any severe symptoms and can walk and talk properly. As advised by his physician, we would observe his health for 2-3 days, and if need be, he will undergo further tests.

We apologize sincerely to all event attendees, live-stream viewers, and other wrestling enthusiasts for the inconvenience caused. You might not have enjoyed the match up to your expectation because Tenryu Project decided to cancel it due to the incident. We prioritize the wrestlers’ lives over anything else and request your understanding on this matter.

The match stopped at a tie and ended in a draw. As per PWF rules, the champions will defend their titles. We express our heartfelt gratitude to all players and fans associated with the match and everyone who reacted promptly to handle the situation.

Although adjustments will be needed considering the players’ disappointment, we will strive to arrange a rematch. We anticipate your understanding on this matter as well. Once again, we deeply apologize for the inconvenience and concern sparked by this incident.

Tenryu Project Representative,
Ayana Shimada”
