Impact Wrestling’s Mickie James can understand Adam Copeland feeling ‘free’ after his debut at AEW WrestleDream.
Speaking on the post-WrestleDream media scrum, Copeland said he felt a sense of freedom during his AEW debut and said he was as excited in AEW as he was debuting on the indies.
During a recent edition of “Busted Open Radio,” James said she understands her fellow WWE alum’s comments about feeling free. She said,
“I can understand when Adam says, ‘Oh, the freedom,’ because I have so much freedom in Impact. And that’s a reason why I stay and I love, is because of the freedom.
“I’m sure that the AEW schedule is demanding, but I’m sure it’s not as demanding as WWE’s schedule.”
Copeland will make his AEW in-ring debut next week against Luchasaurus during the AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday episode on October 10.
During the same podcast, James also had praise for WWE NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio. She said,
“Can I say, Dom, is incredible. I know he’s a bad guy and we’re supposed to hate him. But I think, we look and I’m going, ‘Where did he train?’ This is like really interesting — it’s not like we watched Dominik on the independents or like in an organization, a smaller organization, where we knew Dom was training to be a wrestler, prior to showing up on WWE television.”
Like Copeland, James is preparing for a major match as she will challenge Impact Wrestling Women’s World Champion Trinity later this month at Bound for Glory.

James, who is currently with Impact Wrestling, shared her own experience of freedom in the promotion. She stated that the reason she loves Impact is because of the freedom she has there. Copeland is set to make his in-ring debut for AEW next week, facing off against Luchasaurus during the AEW Dynamite: Title Tuesday episode on October 10. This will be a highly anticipated match for fans of both Copeland and AEW.
