WWE Hall of Famer Mick Foley recently did an interview with Alex McCarthy of TalkSport to discuss a wide range of topics.

In this interview, he talked about Nia Jax getting criticism from fans for hurting Kairi Sane, WWE hyping Randy Orton vs. Edge as the Greatest Match Ever at Backlash, and more. Here are some of the highlights:

Randy Orton vs. Edge:

“So, I think if two guys can do it, it’s Edge and Orton, but one of the intangibles has always been the audience and whether or not there is a feeling of magic in the air.

That’s impossible to predict under any circumstances. The WWE doing what they need to do in the age of the coronavirus has had to take the crowd out of the equation, but in some ways that’s adds to the intensity of the matches, so I don’t know! The odds are against them fulfilling that prophecy of Mr. McMahon’s, but if anyone could it, it’s Edge and Orton.

So I’m not sure if it’s possible to go out there and do it, but the other issue is that matches are subjective. What’s a great match to somebody might be an average match to somebody else. We may very well have some people saying that was the greatest match ever, or it was only great. But yeah, they are setting themselves up to disappoint a multitude of people, but I like the idea that they are taking on that kind of pressure.”

Critics of Nia Jax:

“I remember when there was criticism of Seth Rollins and the buckle bomb is a dangerous move. A gash? Man, if I had to start blaming every person who created a gash on my head I wouldn’t be able to work with anybody!

There’s always timing issues when it comes to making something look real. You don’t want to be putting your hands down so quickly to take away from the realism etc. I don’t think that’s a fair mark against Nia Jax. Nia is a very good worker and a great character and I think she’ll play off Asuka very well. We don’t often see Asuka in a traditional babyface role, but I really think she’ll take to it and it’ll be a very good match.”
