22 years ago, one of the most famous shots of the Monday Night War was fired. Tony Schiavone spoiled the results of RAW’s main event, sarcastically saying that Mick Foley gaining the world title would “put some butts in the seats.” 600,000 fans immediately switched to the competition to witness a beloved journeyman fulfill his dreams, and those that followed Tony’s advice got to witness The Fingerpoke of Doom instead.

In 2021, Mick Foley posted a quick post commemorating the anniversary of the event, thanking everyone involved for “The Night The Channels Changed.” For his part, Tony Schiavone replied to the post saying that he was glad to be a part of it. Meanwhile, The Rock took a moment out of his holiday special to share in the celebration, saying he was honored to do the honors.

Glad to be a part of it 😉👍

This was a massive and historic moment in pro wrestling during the infamous “Monday Night Wars”.
It all hinged on one man becoming @wwe champion – @RealMickFoley.
We all had our role to play and I was honored to “do the honors” for you and our business, my friend. #foley 👑 https://t.co/YsSnM43b59
