WWE’s Michin, formerly known as Mia Yim, has divulged the reasons for her pivot away from her birth name toward her current ring name.

Natively recognized by the Yim alias, she adopted the Michin tag after her re-engagement with WWE in 2022.

In a recent episode of the “Wrestling Classic” podcast, Michin shared the motivation behind the name transformation, stating,

“When I re-joined, they [The O.C.] recommended that I needed a cognomen, which is standard to be part of the clan. Michin is an epithet I’ve been going by since my early years, thanks to my mother. She always referred to me and my sister as ‘crazy’, hence the nick. So this switch-up was entirely my decision.”

Michin elaborated that her present alias aids her stand as a representative of Korea in the worldwide wrestling sphere as ‘Michin’ translates to ‘crazy’ in Korean.

Although she narrowly missed out on becoming the inaugural Women’s U.S. Champion, Michin is undeterred and has her eyes on a different championship. To discover more, follow the link here.
