The president of All Elite Wrestling (AEW), Tony Khan, is expressing his enthusiasm over the ongoing collaboration between AEW and Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL).
In a recent conversation with WGN Radio, the AEW chief discussed the recent participation of Lucha Libre icons Mistico, Mascara Dorada, and Atlantis Jr. at their TV tapings in Chicago, Illinois, last week. He quoted,
“This collaboration will undeniably persist. This Wednesday, Chicago will welcome Mistico in his AEW debut. His first appearance in the Windy City in collaboration with AEW, which is an enormous deal given his status as one of the all-time great Lucha Libre stars. Together with Mascara Dorada, another top star from CMLL joining us this week, it’s going to be a significant event this Wednesday night.”
Khan added, “Fans from across Chicago, throughout the state of Illinois and nearby regions will be flocking in to witness AEW. Seeing Mistico and Mascara Dorada here will undoubtedly excite many of them. Our partnership with CMLL has been excellent. Our stars have been to Mexico too and it’s been an incredibly rewarding venture. The collaboration has been highly advantageous for both parties.”
Meanwhile, reigning AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone has revealed she would love to face Rey Mysterio in an intergender wrestling matchup.
Inspired in a recent segment of the “Ginger Vision House” podcast, the champion was asked about her dream intergender wrestling opponents. She responded,
“There’s a long list. But my ultimate dream opponent would be Manami Toyota, if I could wrestle her from the ’90 or ’92 era, even though she would probably kick my head into the 10th row, but I would give it my all. I personally think that she is among the greatest women’s wrestlers of all time. That would be a fantasy match for me.”
Continuing her response, she said, “Trish Stratus is another dream opponent. I’m a big fan of Mickie James as well. If I got to pick a male wrestler, the choice would unequivocally fall on Rey Mysterio.”
