Long before Megan Thee Stallion was affiliated with WWE, Mercedes Mone had envisioned a partnership with the renowned hip-hop star. Mone’s wish was to participate in either a tag team or individual match with Stallion.
The story behind their meeting traces back to the Crunchyroll Anime Awards held in Japan. Mone and Stallion crossed paths at the event, where they revealed their mutual admiration for each other. This encounter prompted a conversation between their management teams about potential future collaborations.
Mercedes Mone, in her latest interaction with TMZ Sports, disclosed her aspiration to partake in a wrestling match, either in alliance or confrontation with Stallion.
The reigning AEW TBS Champion quoted, “A couple years back, Meg and I were contemplating doing something together in the ring. We’ve brought up that dialogue again, trying to figure out how it could fit into our futures. The question remains if she’s going to be my tag team ally or my opponent, but my goal is to bring Meg Thee Stallion into the wrestling arena sooner rather than later.”
Continuing her conversation, Mone added, “My workload has exponentially increased, hence it’s safe to say, Hollywood is indeed on the chase. I’m juggling multiple roles – delving into the beauty industry, still creating music daily. Efforts are being made to release a music album, with the production set to begin in December.”
The current introduction track for WWE’s Friday Night SmackDown on the USA Network is Stallion’s hit single “Neva Play.” WWE’s choice of Stallion’s track as their theme song came as a surprise for those close to Mone.
As previously covered by eWn, Stallion had an anticipated partnership with Mercedes Mone in AEW. Both sides were in agreement to “do something together”, followed by Mone proposing the idea of bringing Stallion into the wrestling world.
