In a recent conversation with WFAN, AEW TBS Champion, Mercedes Mone shared her insights on leaving WWE in May 2022, her ambition of being in control of her own life, amongst other things.
The highlights from the interview are as follows:
When asked about her departure from WWE, Mone slyly replied, “Everyone has been craving to know the juicy details of that episode. But, you’ll perhaps have to buy the book maybe a decade later to find out.”
Speaking about her journey from being a Legit Boss to a CEO, Mone asserted, “I transitioned from a Legit Boss to a CEO as I yearned for growth. There was a deep inner voice telling me, ‘You need to evolve.’ I aspired to be the maestro of my own life, and one day, there was this surge of energy that engulfed me. That was the moment I realized ‘You have to do what feels right for you. What’s happening at present isn’t right. It’s time to seize your life, take the reins, and steer it towards fulfillment. Go let them realize that their current actions are incorrect and show it to them.’”
On pursuing her instincts, she added, “I did. I just had to make them aware that messing with me wasn’t the best decision they made. And look where I am today – one of the highest-earning female wrestlers in history, the reigning TBS Champion, and now gunning for the New Japan Strong Women’s Championship. I’m living my dreams as a result of the day I made the choice to part ways and followed my heart.”
