During a recent interview with “The Breakfast Club”, the TBS AEW Champion, Mercedes Mone, shared her views about how crucial it is for AEW (All Elite Wrestling) to establish its unique identity rather than getting caught up in a comparative race with WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).
An outline of the key viewpoints from her interview can be found as follows:
Discussing the perspective of AEW positioning itself as an exclusive product, Mone said, “I don’t know what it means to close the gap. It feels like a constant, peculiar competition. AEW has only been in the ring for five years, while WWE has 30-plus years of history. The enormous gap created by the longevity of someone’s presence is hard to overcome. I genuinely believe that AEW needs to keep carving its own brand, staying true to the nature of AEW, a platform where the best of the best wrestle.”
Talking about the catchphrase of AEW, she relayed, “That’s our catchphrase, and that’s where the world-class wrestlers and performers are signed. Every week on TBS and TNT, you get to witness their talent. We’ve signed some of the most excellent performers from across the globe, and that’s our distinguishing factor. I don’t believe there’s any ‘gap’ we need to close. We just need to continue standing out and being our unique brand.”
With these inputs from her chat, Mercedes Moné not only unveiled her stance about AEW but also expressed vehemence in the uniqueness and might of All Elite Wrestling.
As part of the interview, Mone also talked about AEW Grand Slam, being the highest-paid AEW Champion, and her views on Celebrity Wrestling among other topics. You can catch her responses and thoughts in detail in the embedded video content.
