Mercedes Martinez had two separate runs in WWE and during her second stint with the company under the NXT brand, she says she only had one solo conversation with Triple H.

Mercedes Martinez spoke with DNC Digital in her first interview since her release back on August 6, and was asked about her relationship with people in NXT.

We always had a business relationship.”

She very distinctly remembers a conversation she had with Triple H when they talked about her presence in NXT, adding that it was really the only one they had with each other.

“It was more like him saying, ‘Sorry it took us so long to get to here. It was just never the right timing to bring Mercedes in. We’ve always wanted you but there was just never the right time. Triple H hinted at the possibility of being a trainer in the future, and Mercedes was game to have that conversation later.

Creatively, when I came back to NXT with Io [Shirai] and stuff, that was when he was hands-on with the character, more hands-on with my promos.”

While she was fascinated at seeing Triple H handling the creative aspect of the job, she happened to find her fountain of information in two other individuals.

“I gravitated towards like a Regal all the time for all my stuff and gravitated towards Armstrong. That’s where I gravitated to cause I knew where I wanted to go with my direction, my creative…”
