Melina Looks Back On ‘I Quit’ Match With Beth Phoenix, Calls Mickie James The ‘Yin To Her Yang’

The Watch List takes a look at what matches you should be watching while you’re at home and they come recommended by your favorite professional wrestling stars.

WrestleZone recently spoke with Melina, who spoke highly of her relationship with Mickie James, and chose her WWE matches with Beth Phoenix as some that stood out as some of her best.

“When it comes to matches, it’s always hard to pinpoint them because I love them all, but I’m always going to say [matches with] Mickie James because to me, she’s the ying to my yang. But when it comes to my ‘I Quit’ match against Beth Phoenix [at WWE One Night Stand 2008] and the ones that followed are the ones that I hold dear because she put me through hell. I quit, she bent me in half and I quit. But to me, that means nothing.

“She did what she did, she beat me fair and square but that didn’t mean that I was going to be down forever…and the next moment that I could, I beat her for the title [at the 2009 WWE Royal Rumble]. Every time that you think that something is going to stop you from winning, from overcoming, don’t ever take that for an answer. If you want something, you go for it with all your heart and don’t let anything stop you. Now, when it comes to a championship or having something to prove, I have no doubt in my heart that I’m going to keep on going until I achieve what I set out to do.”
