In a recent conversation with “Wrestling Shoot Interviews”, ex-WWE wrestler Maven Huffman shared his thoughts on a common criticism he often faces. He opened up about the misconceptions that he didn’t do his part in wrestling, responding,
“Still hear it about, ‘Ah, well you guys just didn’t pay your dues.’ 20 years in the business and I still have to hear how we didn’t pay our dues. Which, okay … the one thing I ask is show me the wrestler who if given that opportunity says, ‘Nah, I’d rather be wrestling down at the VFW for this weekend in a Ford Focus filled with 5 other sweaty wrestlers.’ Ain’t nobody.”
Maven began his WWE journey in 2001 when he became the first winner of the inaugural season of Tough Enough. He beat competitors Josh Matthews and Chris Nowinski to achieve this feat.
Maven also reflected on his relationship with WWE now, and his unique start in the company which he feels still rankles some. He commented,
“If I run into Hunter today and we shake hands and acknowledge each other, we are polite, ‘Hey man, it’s good to see,’ I am certain he still disapproves of the way I entered the industry. Hates it.”
In the recent past, Maven disclosed that he was once considered for the Evolution stable before decisions were shifted. You can read more about it from the link mentioned. Furthermore, you can also watch Maven Huffman’s full interview from the embedded YouTube link below. [embedded content]
