There may have been more the removal of Matt Riddle’s full than just Vince McMahon’s questionable tendency to so with talent, as Dave Meltzer reports.
According to Meltzer in his latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the story is that they didn’t want people to Google his full name and discover details about the lawsuit between he, Candy Cartwright and WWE. Meltzer adds that Riddle was okay with the name change due to the fact that he was always called “Riddle” most of his life (which Riddle in fact Tweeted out).
Riddle himself told Bodyslam.net that he was fine with the change stating, “I really don’t mind I actually like it. Change always scares people at first.”
Fightful Select noted that Vince McMahon was reportedly very impressed with Riddle’s bout against Sheamus on RAW. Riddle has lost the past two weeks on television, once against AJ Styles and now against the aforementioned Celtic Warrior in a Survivor Series qualifying match.
