In a recent episode of the podcast “AEW Unrestricted”, Matt Menard opened up about his role as a commentator on the AEW Rampage team and shared his enthusiasm for the role that he’s cherished since childhood.

Below are some key moments from Menard’s conversation on the podcast:

Talking about his experience on AEW Rampage, Menard said, “It’s been such an incredible journey working on AEW Rampage, and it’s thrilling to have a dedicated spot every Friday night at 10 pm. My work revolves around Schiavone and Excalibur, but it varies based on when we record the show. Sometimes we might tape on the prior week’s Saturday evening and that’s when the team gets shuffled. What makes it more exciting is my childhood passion for commentary which I now get to live full time – it’s just the best thing ever.”

As for what sparked his interest in commentary, Menard expressed, “It all started with watching sports. I believe a good commentator has the ability to immortalize any moment, make it unforgettable, and etch it into your memory. I grew up watching hockey every Saturday night in Canada, mesmerized by the enigmatic voice of Bob Cole. Even though he passed away three or four months ago, his voice still resonates with me. My old pal El Generico could do a spot-on Bob Cole impression. The same goes for Jim Ross, everyone can mimic JR. I think there’s something profoundly impactful about it, it just reinforces the moment that’s unfolding right before your eyes, skillfully amplified by the announcer.”
