In the 2023 Anarchy In The Arena match at AEW Double or Nothing, Matt Jackson delivered an explosive superkick to Jon Moxley. During his recent conversation with “Sneaker History,” Jackson delved into the details of how the stunt was orchestrated and reflected on the lack of attention it garnered.
Jackson said, “It’s a concept I initiated, and how perfectly it was executed amazed even me. It happened in Las Vegas at Double or Nothing 2023, I was sporting the Across the Spiderverse Jordan 1 sneakers. In essence, I caused an explosion in someone’s face by superkicking Jon Moxley with a pyrotechnic device attached to my sneaker, resulting in a massive fireball. It was utterly unexpected. There was a brief pause of two or three seconds in which everyone was bewildered. It was an outstanding accomplishment that involved a lot of preparation. I had to obtain a Nevada state fireworker license, rehearse, and take real care to ensure that it would go off without a hitch. The success of the stunt, and how well it performed, remains overlooked in my opinion. I get private messages complimenting the moment, but I can’t help feeling it has faded into the background. Probably this is due to it being amid such a remarkable match that night where countless other things happened. It was indeed a remarkable experience with my sneakers.”
Jackson gears up for action tonight as The Elite (including The Young Bucks, Hangman Page, Jack Perry, and Kazuchika Okada) prepare for a face-off against Team AEW (comprising Swerve Strickland, Mark Briscoe, Darby Allin, and The Acclaimed) in a Blood & Guts match. This will air on tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts based in Nashville, TN.
