In a recent episode of his podcast, “The Extreme Life Of Matt Hardy”, former pro-wrestler Matt Hardy shared his thoughts on the triumphant AEW-ring debut of Shelton Benjamin against fellow wrestler, Lio Rush. This event took place last week during the popular wrestling TV show, Dynamite. Some of the podcast’s highlights are detailed below.
Discussing the performance of Private Party’s at WrestleDream, Matt Hardy said, “While I didn’t catch the pay-per-view, I followed the event online, particularly the Private Party and Young Bucks’s segment. Since I share a close bond with Private Party, their performance was of great interest to me. The match was spectacular with positive feedback. I believe it’s time for the management to give these talented guys the spotlight they deserve. They’ve been with AEW since its inception and have contributed significantly. It would be incredible to see them secure the World Tag Team Championship one day and defeat the Bucks, thereby cementing their position as a foundational tag team at AEW.”
The conversation then shifted to Shelton Benjamin’s debut in an AEW ring against Lio Rush. Matt Hardy expressed, “Shelton’s match was enjoyable, although I feel that it would have been more impactful if he had experienced a more concrete win in his inaugural match. He performed brilliantly, but the layout of the match could have been better. Nothing against Lio Rush, who’s an incredibly entertaining performer, but the match didn’t need to be this long. Ideally, Benjamin should have dominated a shorter, five-minute match to establish himself as a force to be reckoned with in AEW.”
