Matt Hardy, a notable figure in professional wrestling, has revealed his mixed experiences working alongside The New Age Outlaws during the well-known Attitude Era, specifically with regards to the unpredictable moods of Billy Gunn.
Sharing his memories on his podcast, “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” the wrestler explained how one never knew which version of Billy Gunn they would encounter.
He shared, “‘Road Dogg’ was consistently cheerful, always prone to a good joke. Billy, on the other hand, was quite temperamental …You never knew which Billy would show up. Would it be grumpy Billy or joyful Billy?”
Hardy went on to mention that despite Gunn’s reputation among his peers, he was always keen to work with The Outlaws. He reminisced about their early days together, adding,
“We were eager to collaborate with them because we admired them. Even since our debut, there was this incident, our bags were hidden. Luckily, Road Dogg helped us locate our bags and also secured them by zippering them up. It was clear he cared for us.”
The Hardy brothers, Matt and Jeff, made allegations in their autobiography ‘Hardy Boyz: Exist 2 Inspire’ that their bags were once stolen by JBL after they had turned down an invitation to fling beer bottles at a road signage.
As recently recorded, both Matt and Gunn were members of AEW until a change in events this year had Matt separating from the firm. He now currently holds the title of TNA World Tag Team Champion. The SmackDown match between Hardy’s and New Age Outlaws can be relived in a YouTube video.
