In a new video, Matt Hardy said that things haven’t gone how he expected them to during his time at Ell Elite Wrestling, and that now it’s time to be the “real” Matthew Hardy.

In a brief message posted to his YouTube channel, Hardy said that he hoped to debut the “Broken” Matt Hardy character to a packed arena filled with fans, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, that was impossible. From there, he said, he decided to instead do a “highlight reel” of his various personas in one character. Hardy went on to say that he’s spent most of his time in AEW helping younger talent and building a rivalry with Sammy Guevara, who was suspended, a move that Hardy said left him frustrated.

Later in the video, Hardy touches on the various frustrations of the world as a whole, saying that due to the racial injustice and social injustice in the world, it might be time for him to just be “Matthew Hardy,” and just be himself for a change. What this means is anyone’s guess, but we’ll more than likely see soon enough.
