Matt Hardy staged his comeback to TNA Wrestling at the Rebellion 2024 pay-per-view event after his contract with AEW expired. He has since been actively participating in TNA televised events. In a similar vein, Jeff Hardy made his return to TNA at the 2024 iteration of Against All Odds.

The Hardy Boyz are currently fully-engaged with TNA. Matt has, however, faced accusations of contention with AEW stemming from his recent comments about his stint with the organization. In response, Hardy has addressed these claims.

Matt previously voiced grievances about how he was positioned in AEW. These complaints led to a proliferation of video clips featuring Hardy, taken out of context, that triggered speculation of a possible feud between Hardy and AEW President Tony Khan, on issues specific to both himself and his brother Jeff.

During the most recent airing of his podcast “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy,” Matt spoke about the suggested contention with AEW and Khan. He crystallized his views on the wrestling promotion and Khan, underlining AEW’s dedication to authenticity and assuring them of his sincere sentiments.

Hardy articulated that he deeply valued his AEW tenure and praised Khan for the high-quality care accorded to the wrestlers. He relieved Khan of any responsibility for how the performers were treated. However, Hardy did express dissatisfaction with certain creative decisions enacted following Jeff’s comeback.

Hardy was of the belief that his pairing with Jeff could have been leveraged more effectively post Jeff making a robust comeback over a span of three to four months. The singular issue was this creative dissatisfaction, since they had received ample remuneration during their AEW tenure.

Matt voiced his discontent that his remarks were misinterpreted by fans who merely skimmed the headlines. He explained,

“The AEW fan base, they see more than anybody else, they want authenticity, they want people to be honest. I’m about to give you the sincerest answer you could possibly ask for. I greatly appreciated being at AEW, and I regard Tony Khan as a wonderful person. I believe he takes remarkable care of all his performers at AEW and I would never criticize him for that.

I simply think some of the creative decisions that were made once Jeff returned and spent three or four months rebuilding his reputation, attempting to regain everyone’s trust. I just feel like, after that, we could have been exploited more. That’s genuinely the only issue that I had any quarrels with. We received substantial compensation while we were working there, and I have absolutely no complaints about that.

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at AEW, I absolutely adore the team there, they are a group of highly talented men and women. Yeah, I was simply annoyed with these issues and the fact that people perhaps didn’t thoroughly listen to my point of view, they merely read the headlines leading to things being taken out of context.”

The Hardy Boyz are currently freelancing with TNA Wrestling.
