In a recent episode of his podcast, “Extreme Life,” wrestler Matt Hardy divulged about an interesting occurrence during The Attitude Era – the wrestlers’ court.
During the conversation, Hardy shared his thoughts on fellow wrestler, Steve Blackman, describing him as unconventional and unexpected. Hardy said, “Blackman was always such a fascinating personality. Despite being a tough, legitimate wrestler, he had a strange and weird sense of humor, something other than what you’d typically expect from a man like him.”
Further in the conversation, Hardy detailed the situation that earned them a spot in the infamous wrestlers’ court. This took place the day after they clinched the Tag Team Titles from JBL and Faarooq. Hardy recollected how Michael Hayes surprised them with first-class seats on a flight to New York. Despite their initial reluctance, Hayes managed to convince Hardy and his partner to accept the invitation.
However, the situation turned sour when Kane, who had checked in late, found his first-class seat occupied. Despite trying to offer Kane their seats, Hardy and his partner were convinced to stay in the first class. This incident ultimately led them to wrestlers’ court.
Hardy also shared how they were reprimanded during the wrestlers’ court. Bradshaw narrated their “offense,” accusing them of getting too big for their boots upon winning the WWF World Tag Team Titles. The event turned more amusing when their sentence was announced by the Undertaker – while Hardy and his partner were let off with the provision of a bottle of Jack Daniels, Michael Hayes was required to treat Kane with dinner for a week and carry his bags for him.
The ordeal culminated in a hilarious yet tense atmosphere. Throughout the podcast, Hardy maintained a light-hearted tone, recalling how JBL’s skillful exaggeration added an element of amusement to their unpredictable situation. At the end of the day, the event remains one of their most memorable experiences from The Attitude Era.
