In a recent episode of “The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy” podcast, Matt Hardy aired his predictions concerning the future of wrestling stars Cope and Christian Cage. Specifically, Hardy is confident that they will join forces again in AEW within this year.
Key points from the podcast are highlighted below:
Regarding a probable reunion of Cope and Christian Cage in 2025: Matt Hardy voiced out, “That bold prediction I made about Edge and Christian reuniting for a team in 2025 is inching closer to reality. The signs are there, and I’m certain it’s going to occur. This is a powerful strategy for AEW, and I can’t fault them for pursuing it. The comeback of Edge and Christian as a duo is going to drastically shift the landscape. It’s not only going to be great for them, but fans are going to love it – there’s going to be major nostalgia. And these guys are still at the top of their game, they are capable of delivering epic performances. It’s truly regretful that there was a time when I, Jeff, Edge, and Christian were together at AEW, but no meaningful interaction amongst the four of us occurred. That was a missed opportunity.”
Reflecting on why an Edge & Christian vs. The Hardys match in AEW didn’t take place: “No, I’m not particularly upset that it didn’t come to fruition. However, it was a missed opportunity. Such a match would have garnered a lot of intrigue and conversation.”
Explaining why it didn’t occur: “It didn’t take place primarily because both wrestlers were pursuing solo careers and weren’t teaming up. To have made this matchup possible, a significant decision would have had to be taken. In theory, we could have had Cope and Christian on different sides, and us as the good guys like we always were. But to hint at a match or a joint venture of some kind, the current booking would have needed some alterations, which they were not prepared to make at that time.”
