During a recent interview on Busted Open Radio, Matt Hardy discussed his tenure with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) that spanned from 2020 to 2024. Matt Hardy has now moved on and joined his brother Jeff in Total Nonstop Action (TNA) Wrestling.

Matt Hardy expressed his thoughts saying, “In TNA, we, the Hardy Boyz, can attain the recognition we merit at this phase of our career – a journey that solidifies our legacy, which is imperative for both Jeff and me. To put it into perspective, if you were present at Wrestlecon in Philadelphia, you would understand the extent of our popularity. The number of autographs we signed, the throng of fans eager to see us was astounding. It’s not uncommon to see fans getting emotional, as if we were back in the 2000’s. However, I feel that AEW’s focus leans more towards delivering five-star matches rather than creating significantly impactful and memorable moments.”

Giving his take on his AEW stint he said, “Though we would have cherished such a run in AEW, unfortunately, it didn’t materialize. Currently, Jeff and I are gratified to be in a place where we believe that our contribution as legends can be utilized and enhanced in status. AEW is a commendable organization and the pro wrestling world appreciates it. But, for the time being, it just wasn’t the right fit for me and Jeff. They operate with a distinct mindset, similar to Tony Khan, who I must add, I admire. I was well compensated during my time there. Yet, Jeff and I yearned for something different. There was a time when I had to vocalize my concerns that despite being in the top five list of the greatest tag teams of all time, we hadn’t won a single match on TV in almost a year. It really made us question, what exactly is going on here?”
