On the “Walkway to Fight Club” podcast, professional wrestler Matt Cardona spoke about various aspects of his career. He discussed his accomplishments on the independent scene, his current ambitions, and the lack of offers from wrestling promotions like WWE and AEW.
Speaking about his aspirations, Cardona said, “I’ve done everything in the indies. Now, it’s time to redefine myself and attain a higher status than I had in WWE. I don’t want to just sign a contract for the sake of it – I want it to be meaningful.”
When asked about not receiving calls from AEW or WWE, he mentioned, “I would discuss it if there was a good offer and a clear intent to utilize me effectively. However, currently there hasn’t been such an offer from either company. I’m focusing on uplifting my rankings and reinventing the game at the indie level. I’m also keen on helping others progress, despite being 39, as I feel I’m yet to hit my prime.”
On the topic of his newly released video, Cardona emphasised his readiness for new opportunities, “Always Ready is not only my catchphrase, it’s my approach towards my life and career. However, I aspire to conclude my career not in small venues but on the grand stage of WWE or AEW.”
Interestingly, he also spoke about his match with Adam Copeland on AEW Collision and the lack of follow up offers, “I’ve accomplished so much, I expected a company to reach out. I don’t want my run to be fueled by negativity or a sense to prove others wrong. My aim has always been to vindicate my fans and prove myself right; there is still more I intend to prove.”
